空間とポートレート
さまざまな空間の中でも、その空間が誰かの想いを宿すとき、それはポートレートのように姿を現します。1982年にオープンした老舗のJAZZ LIVE BARのマスターはこう語ります。「自分の好みを押し付けない。だから出演ミュージシャンはいろいろです。ジャズの解釈は聴く人がすればいい。レコードをかけるときも脈絡をもたせない。お客様が気楽に立ち寄れる。それでいいんです。すっかり有名になった人でも『またここに戻ってきて演奏したい』と言ってくれるから、それがうれしいね。」
Space and Portraits
Among various spaces, when infused with someone’s thoughts and feelings, a space can emerge like a portrait. The master of a long-established JAZZ LIVE BAR, opened in 1982, says: “I don’t impose my preferences. That’s why the musicians who perform here are diverse. The interpretation of jazz is up to the listeners. Even when playing records, I don’t aim for coherence. It’s fine if customers can drop by casually. That’s all that matters. Even those who have become very famous say, ‘I want to come back here and perform again,’ and that makes me happy.”
